An Introduction and some inspiration.

Well, I finally decided to take the plunge and start my own blog.  To be honest, I’ve wanted to do this for a number of years.  I started a new job in November and it gave me all sorts of positive vibes.  It also sparked the creative juices that had gone the way of the freezer over the last few years.  So, here I am now all creatively thawed out…

Who am I? I’m a proud father and husband, a PR practicioner, a public address announcer for the New York Mets Triple A team, and a person who lives life with passion.  What I hope that this blog will do is provide not just inspiration and advice (hopefully good), but also get your creative juices flowing.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve read a number of great blogs and I hope to feature them in my blog roll.  One that really caught my eye this week was Life Without Pants, by Matt Cheuvront.  The guy is brilliant (don’t take my word for it, click on the link, ok?).  He unknowingly gave me the last swift kick to start this blog the other night. I read this post at Reach Our Dreams, by Jen Smith.  Matt’s guest blog on that site was outstanding, but this quote stood out:

“…no dream is ridiculous if YOU believe in it.”

Those are powerful words if you ask me.  No one should be able to stop you from your dreams… NO ONE.

I will leave you with another quote, one I’ve reached for many times to provide inspiration:

“Some men see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say “Why not?”

So let me ask …. what inspires you?

About JasMollica

"It's never too late to have a life and it's never too late to change one." That's something I tell students, friends, and family all the time. After living and working in New York City, I took my own advice in 2004, switched my career from the television/radio industry and got into public relations. Now, I spend my days as a PR/social media marketing consultant and get inspired daily. It's been a good ride, so far. But the car has plenty of gas left. I hope you'll join along in this guy's journey!

  1. Jason,
I’m THRILLED to welcome you to the blogosphere. I’m so glad we’ve recently connected and can’t wait to read future posts (I’m going to add you to my blogroll if that’s ok).

To answer your question, I’m inspired by the power of social media. Sure, I have local friends, but I’ve developed some truly life changing relationships online as well. I started talking to @Mikinzi a couple weeks ago and we have become close already – we are even planning on a future collaborative project (details to be announced). She then introduced me to @mattChevy whom I also deeply admire as a blogger and person. And by catching your eye with my “Don’t Completely ‘Check Out’ in December” post, I’ve met and started interacting regularly with you. I think it’s great that people we don’t know in person can inspire us to do things we might not do otherwise; I think it’s great that true friendships can emerge from social media; and I think it’s great that you are going to share your experience and wisdom through this blog.

Thanks for the constant encouragement. It truly means a lot to me!

  2. Lauren,

Thanks so much! Your post on “Don’t Completely ‘Check Out'” should be required reading for all college students. I am glad I saw it. Social media is a great way to meet new people, as you have. Continue to be excited by what is ahead in public relations and marketing. It is a great field.

I’d be honored to be part of your blogroll and appreciate you taking the time to swing by!

    All the best,

  3. Hey Jason,

Glad to see that you’ve jumped on the blogging train! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and get everything you want out of it, just like all of us!

What inspires me is the overall power of soccer. The game has the power to change like no other. IT can unite countries as easily as it can break them apart. It can stop civil wars, give kids something who have nothing.

The game has inspired me to do so much and 2010 will be an amazing year for soccer in the US, as well as in Buffalo. I want to bring the same joy that the game brings me to everyone in WNY, from kids who have never played the game before to all the refugees who have the game in their blood. From diehard fans to newbies to the game who want to learn what the hype is all about.

Added your blog to my reader Jason, looking forward to reading more. We should grab lunch someday, maybe next week if you are around?

    • Ryan,
Thanks for the reply! Futbol is a wonderful sport that I haven’t had the opportunity to get into as of yet. I think 2010 is the year for me to do so! Hearing how passionate you are about it, makes me want to dive in (or would it be head in?).

I have added you to my blog roll and look forward to meeting up in person. Best regards for 2010 and beyond!

  4. Thanks for the link to Matt’s guest post at my site Jason. I am really glad you enjoyed it, Matt is a fantastic blogger and has been a real inspiration to me. Congratulations also on starting this blog, it looks awesome. What inspires me? People who are interested in making a difference.
