Be Passionate.

I don’t know whether it was too much egg nog or the hours of Christmas music, but I came back to work on Monday feeling inspired.  Sure, being around family and friends during the holidays can sometimes be a chore.  This year was different for me, though.

The smiles on the faces of my family were envigorating.  We all have a ton of great things going on.  For instance, my in-laws are working on a project that, in my opinion, will be great for our area.  When I hear them talk about this project, it gets me excited.

It got me thinking about my blog and the two words that I try to use to kick start my day: BE PASSIONATE.  We all are (hopefully) passionate about the things we do.  It may be your job, your blog, or your studies.  But, what do you have if you aren’t passionate those things?  To me, life becomes bland when passion isn’t involved.

You probably have met or know someone that just coasts.  They work in a job that is comfortable, but they really don’t care too much about it.  Do you think that sounds good? Would you rather just be in the status quo or part of something that is truly magical?

Take a moment and think of the things that get the passion going inside of you.  Maybe it is your blog.  Perhaps a class at school really gets your juices flowing.  For me, it is my family and my job.  I love waking up and hearing my children’s laughter.  At work, I get excited knowing that I am helping someone in some way and I love brainstorming on ideas with clients.

Don’t rob yourself of enjoying the life we’ve been given.  Your passion will not only rub off on others, it will continue to fuel what is inside of you.  So take a moment before your start your day and say these two words to yourself…

BE PASSIONATE.

About JasMollica

"It's never too late to have a life and it's never too late to change one." That's something I tell students, friends, and family all the time. After living and working in New York City, I took my own advice in 2004, switched my career from the television/radio industry and got into public relations. Now, I spend my days as a PR/social media marketing consultant and get inspired daily. It's been a good ride, so far. But the car has plenty of gas left. I hope you'll join along in this guy's journey!

  1. Passion is an amazing weapon in your arsenal to success.

The only caveiat is that your job does not have to equal your passion. With all the Gary V’s in the world now preaching that you need to be passionate about your job, it’s not necessary.

Some people are perfectly content with working at a job 9-5 and coming home and being passionate about what they take on outside of work, and that should also be embraced for those of us who do not have the luxury of being able to pursue our true passions for monetary gain.

Here’s to being passionate in 2010 and beyond Jason!

    • Ryan,

Very good point. Passion doesn’t just need to be related to your job. I guess I see passion coming from work and play right now because I have it for both. However, I previously found my passion from my outside ventures.

The most important point here: be passionate about whatever you do. You said it… it is an amazing weapon.

Thanks as always for the response!
